Believe it or not, GTA 5 came out in September of 2013. Here we are almost 13 years later in 2026, while fans twiddle their thumbs waiting for the next installment of GTA. Fans of the controversial gaming franchise have been teased nonstop in the last few years; the first trailer for the game came out 2 years ago. Release dates would get announced by Rockstar Games, and then inevitably the game would get delayed even further. It got delayed so many times in fact, that the internet is flooded with GTA 6 memes about how long it has taken.
If you’re like millions of others excited for the release of GTA 6, you’re in luck. Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that the release date of November 19th, 2026, is going to stick and it will not be delayed again. They also confirmed that they will start ramping up marketing this summer in anticipation of the November release. GTA 6 pre-orders are expected to go live in late June or early July of 2026.
GTA 6 is coming off the back of a wildly successful run with GTA 5, which went on to sell nearly 230 million copies, easily becoming one of the most popular video games of all time based on sales. GTA 5 has been re-released and remastered across multiple console generations since its original Xbox 360/PS3 release. It’s no wonder why GTA 6 has become as hyped as it is. It’s not unrealistic to assume the pre-orders are going to shatter records. As a premier studio in the industry, Rockstar Games is poised for another cultural milestone with the release of GTA 6. This won’t just be any ordinary game launch; it will be a global takeover.
