On Sept. 16, 2025, Gov. Tim Walz announced his bid for a third term as Minnesota governor.
In a campaign video released Tuesday morning, Walz pledged to continue making Minnesota “a place where everyone can succeed.”
Walz said he is running because his work is not finished. He spoke about “how we can help each other through the hard times,” adding:
“I’m heartbroken and angry about the beautiful people we lost to gun violence. But it’s in these moments we have to come together. We can’t lose hope because I’ve seen what we can do when we work together.”
While Walz is a well-known figure in Minnesota, he gained national recognition as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate on the 2024 Democratic presidential ticket. Since their defeat in November, Walz has continued to raise his national profile through social media and his work with Minnesotans.
“I’ve always tried to do what’s right for Minnesota, and I’ll never stop fighting to protect us from the chaos, corruption and cruelty coming out of Washington,” Walz said in the video.
