Authorities have identified the individual responsible for the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School on Wednesday, August 27, as 23-year-old Robin Westman, a transgender woman.

Prior to the attack, Westman uploaded a video to YouTube titled “So long, and thanks for all the fish.” The video, which has since been taken down, featured a handwritten journal containing Cyrillic script and disturbing, violent content.

In the footage, Westman voiced admiration for Adam Lanza, the perpetrator of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Her journal outlined plans to target Annunciation, a school where her mother, Mary Grace Westman, had been employed until 2021. The notes included considerations about the timing of the attack, weighing options such as recess or a church event.

A second video, also removed from the platform, showed firearms with magazines bearing messages like “kill Donald Trump” and “for the children.” The weapons were accompanied by a transgender pride sticker reading “Defend equality.” Investigators also found a notebook in Westman’s vehicle with a sticker referencing a band linked to the 1999 Columbine shooting.
