On Sept. 8, the body of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found in the trunk of David Burke’s Tesla. David Burke, who is more commonly known by his stage name D4vid, is known for his songs such as “Romantic Homicide” and “Here with Me,” garnering over 30 million monthly listeners.

The Tesla, where the child’s body was found, had been parked without a permit on a residential street in Los Angeles. Residents called in to report the vehicle due to it sitting with Texas plates and no permit for three weeks, and it had not been moved from its last location on the street for over 72 hours. The Tesla was then towed by Hollywood Tow, who then called police stating a foul odor and flies emanating from the trunk.

Inside the front trunk of the Tesla, they found a heavily decomposed body in a trash bag. While some reports have stated that the child’s body was dismembered, these statements have not been able to be confirmed.

LAPD has not currently publicly released any suspects they are investigating. False reports online have stated that David Burke (D4vd) has been cleared as a suspect. This is not true.

The child, Celeste, had been reported missing multiple times over the years. She was last seen by her family in April 2024. There have been many who have scrutinized law enforcement’s efforts into her disappearance, with oversights being reported.

There has been speculation over the connection between the child and the singer D4vd, with some reports stating the two have been in contact since Hernandez was 11 years old. David Burke is currently 20 years old. These reports and speculation have not been confirmed as of the writing of this article.

Burke has canceled his current tour, Withered. He is reported to be cooperating with authorities.
