- Emdash, connects continuing sentences/thoughts ("He went to the store—at least that’s what he told us.")
- Endash connects times of day (12:30 p.m.–1:00 p.m.)
- a.m./p.m. Use noon or midnight instead of 12 a.m. or 12 p.m.
- email (lowercase)
- Email addresses in italics, unless surrounding sentence is in italics, then it is written out.
- Web site (capped W)

- Years: 1960s can be abbreviated to ’60s, not 60’s
- Use quotation marks for titles of articles, songs, chapters in books, movies and radio and television programs.
- Italics for titles of books, magazines, newspapers and plays.
- Colons are always followed by two spaces.
- Neither hyphens (-) nor dashes (—) require spaces around them.
- Numbers one through nine are spelled out in AP style; numbers 10 and up are in numeral form.
- Use figures without letters in dates: April 1, not April 1st.
- Campus class and event locations, cap first letter: Minneapolis Campus; St. Paul and Midway Campuses; New Main; Room L104.
- Substitute gender-neutral all-inclusive phrasing: his or her, one’s education, (not "my" or "your" education).
- Fractions: three-fourths, and one-half. Not ¾ and ½.
- Money: $10, not $10.00. 60 cents.
