Women’s conference opportunities available
The Student Senate is currently accepting applications from women who are interested in attending the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL). The conference, sponsored by the AAUW (formerly the American Association of University Women) and the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Conference attendees will be able to:
• meet “innovators of unique programs and services” at the Women of Distinction awards ceremony and reception.
• be inspired by keynote speakers.
• gain information and develop skills by attending workshops in the areas of advocacy, leadership, health and wellness and the real world.
• make friends and contacts from across the country by networking with other attendees.
• return to their communities secure in the knowledge of having a network of colleagues to support leadership endeavors and career growth.
Anyone interested in attending the NCCWSL should submit a one-page essay to the Student Senate on why she would like to attend. In order to be reimbursed for conference registration, travel and hotel expenses, all approved attendees will be required to submit an article to The Metropolitan detailing their experience at NCCWSL. Please submit essays to the Student Senate office in New Main L207.
