SSC Corner

Students for Social Change (SSC) is a student organization seeking to engage, educate and empower the Metropolitan State community. The group was formed for the purpose of giving students an avenue to explore the many ways they can enact positive social change both locally and globally. For some, this may mean putting together on-campus events around various current issues. For others, it may mean attending workshops to learn about socially conscious volunteer and career opportunities.

SSC hopes to give students a forum to accomplish all of these goals and more. The group is looking to build a broad coalition that represents Metropolitan State’s highly diverse community, whether you’re already engaged in public issues or are just curious to learn more about how you can make a difference in local and global affairs. This year we are already planning for guests to speak on issues such as communications and genocide in the world. We are also planning on hosting Camp Wellstone again this year.

We meet one Friday a month in the Saint Paul Room from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Our upcoming meeting dates are Sept. 18 and Oct. 30. Feel free to come in to learn more on what we are about. We also always welcome new ideas.

If you cannot make these dates but are still interested in participating, you can check out our Web site at http://ssc.metrostate.edu and we are also on Facebook. We look forward to seeing and hearing from new people.
