Groove your way to this year’s FallFest

-- Vickie Lee-Her

Metropolitan State University’s jam-packed FallFest Celebration begins on Sept. 2 and runs through Sept. 27. The entire Metropolitan State community is encouraged to attend, especially freshmen and transfer students, as the celebration will showcase student organizations, university resources and will be a great place to meet new people.

FallFest began at Metropolitan State in 2000 as sort of a homecoming for the university community. All events are planned as a way to welcome students, faculty and staff to campus for the new school year. It also serves as a great introduction for new and transfer students to the university community, student organizations and campus resources.

“Events and activities are provided for the whole family to enjoy,” says Lori Yang, who is a coordinator for the event. “Whether it is a month of activities or a one day event, it’s definitely creating new traditions every year.”

This year’s FallFest theme is GROOVIN’ 2 Success! And to compliment this theme, the University Activities Board (UAB), which is a volunteer board of active participants engaged in the development and implementation of students’ activities, has planned exciting events. Eventssuch as the SO (Student Organization) Face-Off, a competitive track and field challenge, will push FallFest attendees to move, run or walk their way into the new school year. Other events include entertainment such as movies and music, golf and learning experiences. Yang adds that attending FallFest will be a great way for students to meet new friends, create memories and gain new experiences. Students can participate by attending events or by volunteering.
