Matt Glowacki to speak for Disability Awareness Month
In observance of Disability Awareness Month, October 2007, Metropolitan State University is hosting a motivational speech by Matt Glowacki entitled “Diversity According to South Park and Family Guy” on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the St. Paul campus, 700 E. Seventh St., Founders Hall, Auditorium, from 3-5 p.m. Glowacki, a native of Janesville , Wis. , was born healthy but without legs. From a very young age his parents provided him with every opportunity to participate in a normal life. Before graduating from Craig High School , Glowacki had earned the rank of Eagle Scout, served as the governor of the state of Wisconsin’s Key Club District and managed his own business...
A new kind of student
Lisa Swanson is a motivated student. A senior at Zimmerman High School, she plays varsity basketball and softball in her spare time, which isn’t much. In addition, Swanson is now taking classes at Saint Cloud State University that will help her obtain a degree in communications studies. 2nd Annual Minnesota OUT! Campus Conference scheduled for October
On Oct. 6 and 7, Metropolitan State University will host hundreds of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Allied students, staff, and faculty from college campuses all over Minnesota. A branch of the MN Campus Alliance, the 2nd annual Minnesota OUT! Campus Conference (MOCC) will feature workshops, a community resource fair, two keynote performers / presenters, and a dance. In keeping with the conference theme, “Forging our Future”, the events will focus on educating and empowering college students and employees on the issues that face GLBTA people in Minnesota and nationwide. MOCC will provide an opportunity for these individuals to network, build community, and have fun together. Power of YOU receives first yearly review
The Power of YOU is a program sponsored by Metropolitan State University, Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) and St. Paul College that provides two years of tuition-free higher education to public or alternative high school graduates from the Minneapolis and St. Paul area.
