How to help solve the climate crisis

  • Switch to green power: Sun, wind, burning of biomass.
  • Neutralize your remaining emissions: Purchasing carbon offsets; http://www.NativeEnergy.com/climatecrisis.
  • Don’t waste paper: Fourth most energy-intensive industry, very polluting and destructive to forests; limit use of paper towels, use recycled products, recycle, use both sides of paper, stop unwanted junk mail.
  • Modify your diet to eat less meat: It takes far more fossil fuel energy to produce and transfer meat than vegetables.
  • Pre-cycle; reduce before you buy: Vast amounts of natural resources and fossil fuels are used each year on packaging; try to find refillable glass containers.
  • Vote with your dollars: Find out which brands and stores are making an effort to conduct business in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Support an environmental group: Natural Resources Defense Council, http://www.nrdc.org/globalwarming/; Environmental Defense, http://www.environmentaldefense.org.
  • Telecommute from home: Telework Coalition, http://www.telcoa.org.
