Hurricane Katrina’s Wake

-- Photographs by Kristin Johnson

Volunteers formed a human chain to unload donations for survivors of Hurricane Katrina. The hurricane struck the Gulf Coast Monday, August 29. But the worst damage was felt in the aftermath Tuesday, when dams holding in Lake Pontchartrain erupted, flooding the entire city of New Orleans. The breach created the worst natural disaster in U.S. history. Minnesota will aid in re-establishing the lives of 3,000 hurricane evacuees. The donation collection effort at the Mall of America parking lot in Bloomington was organized by the nonprofit, Hope for the City. (http://www.hope4thecity.com).

On Thursday, Sept. 8, Revestors Realty dropped off a vanload of non-perishable donations at the Mall of America donation site for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
