University announces $327,348 education grant
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) awarded a $327,348 grant to Metropolitan State University School of Nursing, Gillette Children’s Specialty Heathcare, HealthPartners Medical Group and Clinics, and Regions Hospital for simulation-based education.
The grant was awarded through the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership (MJSP) Board. There was a grant signing ceremony April 30 to celebrate this training partnership.
Metropolitan State will provide simulation-based education for 1,137 key professionals from the three partnering healthcare providers focusing on pediatrics, adult and child, and obstetrics.
Employees will gain and practice knowledge, technical skills and critical thinking strategies, resulting in improved patient care. This training will expand the capacity of the HealthPartners Simulation Center at Metropolitan State, and it will be available to share with a broader healthcare audience.
"The state of Minnesota is committed to supporting continued growth and innovation, particularly in medical manufacturing and the health care industry, although these grants support demand industries and services throughout the state," said DEED Commissioner and MJSP Board Chair Dan McElroy. "The customized training is vital to keeping Minnesotans’ skills as current and marketable as possible."
