Metropolitan State appoints vice president for administration and finance
Murtuza T. Siddiqui, Shoreview, has been appointed vice president for administration and finance by President Sue K. Hammersmith. The appointment was effective April 1.
In this position, Siddiqui serves as the university’s chief financial officer and is a member of the president’s senior leadership team. He provides leadership for and overall direction of human resources; capital planning and campus services; budget planning, finance management; and information technology. Siddiqui provides strategic thinking and planning for the university with the president and other senior officers.
Siddiqui has been interim vice president of administration and finance since September 2008 and associate vice president for financial management at Metropolitan State University since August 2006. He came to the university from the city of Arden Hills where he served as chief financial officer and treasurer from 2004–2006. Earlier he worked 10 years as chief financial officer and controller for Minnesota Technology, Inc. and 11 years in finance and internal auditing for the Metropolitan Council.
Siddiqui holds a B.S. in accounting from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, and an M.B.A. from Metropolitan State University.
