In honor of PeaceJam and Desmond Tutu, Metropolitan State University is sponsoring A Writing Contest. Students may submit short essays, memoirs, and poems with accompanying visual images. We welcome and encourage the mingling of words and photos, graphics, patterns, colors, and numbers as well as works that demonstrate the connections between acts of service and peace, one act at a time.

Ten Midwave Scholarships in Information Technology Excellence and Career Development will be awarded to information technology and computer science students attending metro area MnSCU colleges and universities. The $1000 scholarships will be applied to fall 2008 semester studies. The night was dark and cold. I crunched through the packed snow in borrowed boots, clumsily gripping slippery skis and long poles in my gloved hands. Up ahead, the lights of Elm Creek Park's ski chalet gleamed brilliantly. Next to the chalet stood a training field with snow groomed into fresh white corduroy.
