New associate vice president appointed
Dawn Syverson of Oakdale was recently appointed associate vice president for information, telecommunications and technology for Metropolitan State University.
In this position, Syverson serves as chief information officer (CIO) and provides technology vision and strategic leadership for Metropolitan State. She is responsible for policy formation and executive management of the information technology unit, covering all telephony and technology-related instructional, administrative and academic needs at Metropolitan State. She is also an active partner contributing to system-level technology efforts.
Syverson joined Metropolitan State in 1999 as database administrator/programmer. For the past 14 months she has been interim CIO. Prior to the interim appointment, Syverson was information services director for three years.
Syverson holds a B.A. in computer information systems from Metropolitan State and is completing a master of management information systems.
