Metropolitan State University appoints Human Resources Director
Stephanie A. Miller has been appointed Human Resources Director by President Sue K. Hammersmith. The appointment was effective May 27.
Miller serves as the university’s chief human resources officer, is a member of the president’s senior leadership team and is a member of the vice president for administration and finance’s leadership team. She has responsibility for all human resources policies and practices.
Miller comes to Metropolitan State from Normandale Community College where she was the chief human resource officer. Previously, she was employee relations project lead manager for Accenture Human Resource Services in Richfield, Minn., a consultant with Neuvest in Edina, Minn., interim human resources director for Minnesota State University Moorhead, a labor relations representative for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system and a management analyst II with the Minnesota Department of Administration.
Miller holds a Bachelor of Political Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a JD in Labor and Employment Law from Hamline University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas.
The position became vacant this spring due to the retirement of Janice Anderson, who had served the university for 30 years.
“Ms. Miller brings a strong experience base in both human resources and labor relations,” said President Hammersmith. “She shares our passion for adult, lifelong learning, and she will be a great addition to the university’s leadership team.”
