Security Alert: reported abduction attempt
December 13, 2006

-- Carin Mangimeli

The Public Safety Department would like to inform the Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC)/Metropolitan State University community of a reported abduction attempt that occurred near our Minneapolis Campus.

On Dec. 13 at 12:30 p.m., a female student reported that a friend drove her to school and that she was dropped off at the intersection of Yale and Spruce Places (near the Whitney Fine Arts Center).

Upon exiting the vehicle, the suspect vehicle pulled up behind her. The passenger door to the vehicle swung open and the man inside told her to get in. The student advised the driver that her friend was right there, and the suspect vehicle sped off.

The driver of the victim vehicle attempted to follow the suspect vehicle but was unable to obtain a license plate number. The student reported the incident to the Minneapolis Police Department.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please notify Public Safety at (612) 659-6910. The Public Safety Department is working in conjunction with the Minneapolis Police Department to resolve this crime.

As always, we strongly urge any member of the campus community to call the Public Safety Department in reference to any suspicious activity or other security related issue.
