Information about Psychology Club

Metropolitan State University’s Psychology Club provides support services and social outlets for all Metropolitan State students and alumni with an interest in psychology and/or fields psychological in nature. We provide access for Psychology Club members to psychology professionals both as speakers and advisors, psychology and nonpsychology related seminars, conferences and events as well as career-pathing and -planning services including graduate program information and other such related matters.

The Psychology Club will accept those students who are registered at, or are alumni of, Metropolitan State University. All students expressing an interest in psychology or related field will be considered for club membership. Membership is gained by submitting an application. Applications can be found online at the link listed below. There are also paper applications available on the Psychology Club bulletin board outside the Psychology Lab (New Main) or in the Psychology Lab (ask an attendant).

Membership is maintained by either remaining a student at, or graduating from, Metropolitan State University. In either case, it is the responsibility of the member to apprise a current club officer of updated contact information.

Psychology Club meetings are held once a month during the regular school year. Scheduled times and locations for meetings are posted regularly (visit our Web site or Psychology Club bulletin board for current information).

The next event of the 2005-2006 academic year will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28. Please visit our Web site for up-to-date information about this event and more information regarding the Metropolitan State University Psychology Club at http://www.metrostate.edu/cps/psych/club.html

ust jettison the pseudo martyr mentality that compels us to give and keep giving until we’re spent. It is not altruistic to give oneself away until there is nothing left to give. We cannot afford to be sympathetic to a self-enervating attitude that subtly persuades us that it’s a noble goal to become an empty vessel, a hollow shell. That does no one any good. Quite simply, “to give” presupposes we have something to give! A dry well is useful to no one and is good for nothing.
