The 'study abroad' Abyss

For a university founded over 35 years ago that encompasses a student population of 10,000 and is known for representing a diversity of cultures, one may conclude that a study abroad program would be fundamental for Metropolitan State University. Alas, that assumption is incorrect. Metropolitan State has never offered a study abroad program and it doesn’t look like they will in the near future. But that doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen...

Sport Explorations: Cross-country skiing

The night was dark and cold. I crunched through the packed snow in borrowed boots, clumsily gripping slippery skis and long poles in my gloved hands. Up ahead, the lights of Elm Creek Park's ski chalet gleamed brilliantly. Next to the chalet stood a training field with snow groomed into fresh white corduroy. Farther off, lights illuminated ski trails winding into the hilly landscape. I was here to learn about skate skiing from 28-year-old ski racer Jennifer Peatrowsky...
