Goodbye from the editor

November 9, 2007

Dear Metropolitan State University students,

My tenure as editor of The Metropolitan has been short-lived, only six months, but with a year behind me as associate editor. In my time with the student newspaper I have watched so many dedicated people work extraordinarily hard to improve the quality of the newspaper, to engage in the discourse on campus and to voice what's important to Metropolitan State students. I can honestly say that over the past year and a half The Metropolitan has improved many-fold, thanks to the ardent devotion of its participants on staff and from the student body, to become a worthy representation of this fine institution - one we can truly be proud of.

As I look toward my graduation, I feel so many things. There is pride, a sense of accomplishment, relief, fear and a little regret. It is my hope that Metropolitan State will continue to foster the important role the media plays in all of our lives.

But one thing I am confident of is that The Metropolitan will continue to serve the student body with excellence and integrity. The incoming editor, Rebecca Haven, has been a hard-working and enthusiastic employee for over a year. I am confident she will continue The Metropolitan's growth.

And while so many of you have never met me, I want you to know that my admiration for your determination, strength and will as a college student is innumerable.

Thank you,

Andrea Jackley
