Student Organization News

An open letter to Metropolitan State University students from the African American Student Association:

Welcome Back!

Hopefully you've had an opportunity to rest and relax and with your families.

Now, as we prepare for spring and get ready for fun in the sun, we can also start thinking about how to further the goal of encouraging a sense of community and mentorship. We already have some great ideas in mind and would love for members and new members to contribute even more ideas.

The African American Student Association (AASA) went before the board at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008. We met with SAFC to determine our budget for the 2008-2009 school year.

The AASA will be having regular meetings every other Saturday. Our most recent meeting was on March 29. Our next meeting will be on April 12; any interested future members, current members and anyone that wants to come and just help our organization out may attend.  Meetings on April 26, May 3 and 17 will follow. There will be a follow-up regarding summer meetings.

Your involvement is deeply appreciated. I also hope that you were able to attend the Women's History Month events that took place throughout the month of March. For information on future events, check http://www.metrostate.edu for more details.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,
Shontel Booker
AASA President

Open Letter from PRSSA:

You've decided to pursue a degree in Public Relations at Metropolitan State. Fantastic! But now what? How do you get a job when you graduate, or better yet, a much needed internship? How do you begin networking and developing contacts? How do you know exactly what you'll be doing if you've never had any experience in the PR field? No worries. You're cordially invited to join the Metropolitan State University Chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).

PRSSA is a student version of the renowned and highly respected PR organization across the globe. The MSU Chapter of PRSSA is officially recognized by Metropolitan State, resulting from a year's worth of work by our current president, Dean Muldoon; former vice-president and Metropolitan State alum, Stacy DeYoung; and student advisor, Shannon Skarphol Kaml.

The MSU Chapter of PRSSA aims to serve its members by enhancing their knowledge of PR by providing access to professional development opportunities, and advancing its members into highly qualified, well-prepared PR, Journalism or Technical Writing professionals.
