Graduate Student Advisory Committee to hold Annual Spring Dinner on April 25

- Vickie Lee-Her

Metropolitan State University's student organization Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC), will be holding its 24th Annual Spring Dinner on Friday, April 25 at the Golden Valley Club. This year's event will feature Dr. Terry Hitchcock as the guest speaker who will be discussing the theme "Nothing is Impossible: Not a cliche but a motto to live by. "This is a main event for GSAC members and it serves as a great networking opportunity.

GSAC is a part of the College of Management and serves as a "bridge" or "liaison" between fellow students and COM. The organization holds regularly scheduled meetings to discuss, plan and update issues that may concern the organization. In addition, GSAC holds sponsored breaks of 30 minutes where students and faculty enjoy a light dinner, socialize and are addressed by Dean Seiler or Ken Zapp, two GSAC alumni. The climax event for GSAC is the Annual Spring Dinner that includes a cash bar, buffet dinner and featured guest speaker.

"The Annual Spring Dinner is a special event where students and alumni meet for a social gathering mainly focused on networking and an evening of fine food and advice or words of wisdom from various speakers," says Charles Karanja, President of GSAC. "Students, alumni, faculty, staff and guests will enjoy a wonderful and upbeat evening at one of the most prestigious meeting and banquet facilities in the Twin Cities area."

Guest speaker Dr. Terry Hitchcock is a highly sought-after motivational speaker and Chairman and CEO of Heroes and Dreams Foundation. Hitchcock established the Heroes & Dreams Foundation in 2002 with the mission to help children of all ages around the world reach their full potential. The foundation, based out of Minneapolis, develops and supports programs that positively impact the lives of children cognitively, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Additionally, Indiewood Pictures in Hollywood will celebrate Hitchcock's life story with a documentary called "My Run" in 2008.
